Our Story
World's Greatest Band formed in 1997.

Initially, one man - Dan - decided life without purpose or vision was meaningless. But what purpose? What vision?

Being in his prime to this day, and using his God-given spiritual vision, he saw the overall connectedness of all created things. Therefore his place in the scheme was assured. However, many forces existed to thwart or hinder his fulfillment of destiny.
Little did he know the many devices unscrupulous beings and men had contrived to usurp his position. Little did he know the ends these harbingers of death were willing to go to. However he did know one thing - a man's place in the sun is that man's place in the sun!

The song 'Rock'n Roll Guy' (from the Tears Of Blood CD) identified Dan's predilection to rock music. His friend John Chang was very encouraging in helping Dan get back into the type of music he had enjoyed years before.
Unfortunately John - a warm and adventurous person - suffered a camping accident and is now in the great beyond.

Now that Dan's lifeline was delineated, his band needed to be reformed. Reformed? During his teen years he had a band - MC5. The evil forces wrecked that project (though MC5 popped up stateside by another agent) and Dan hid for awhile.
The Dan Gold Band was formed in 1995, put together a few songs and played at Stratengers in Toronto in the fall - an excellent success! (Previously he had been with Dori Charters and Don Reed playing the Pearl Cafe in Toronto's east end.)

Their next gig was the Leslieville Festival - also successful. Problems arose with Bert's drinking, Diane's paranoia and Lynda's psychoses and The Dan Gold Band was reformed in 1996 with Dan, Jeff, Bob and James.
Canada Day was their first gig out in the park - Monarch Park. Excellent time!

When James decided he'd been dissed in his crib (ha!) the band played drummerless at MPP Marilyn Churley's picnic in the summer of '96 (successfully!) and Bob backed out of the project - but not before shaving Dan's head! OooWhee!!

The raw, inspired rock songs on the Tears Of Blood CD were written during this time. They deal with personal angst and anger due to the system's oppressive agenda.
Dan and Jeff reportedly were coked up writing 'Tears of Blood'.

The song 'Hang Down Ten' contains the visceral words:
'Hang down ten they tear you limb from limb
When you're told it was meant to be this way
Big surprise when they look into your eyes
And discover you were innocent today'

However Dan's impassioned song 'Angry Young Man' provided incentive to overlook life's ups and downs and, as they say, go for the gold!
(After all, evil forces work against everyone to enslave!)
'I see the highway of man's demise
The fruitless passions, the endless lies
The harsh oppressions of innocent and young
Mankind's endorsement of the evil one'

The fall of '96 found Dan and Jeff playing Dave's Pizza in Toronto. Intimate and interactive to say the least! 'WANTED' notices were posted for bass and drums and different band names were tried - Madman, GoldBarr (Jeff's surname being Barr!).
Darren Moscoe and Kevin Barnes eventually ended up playing drums and bass and World's Greatest Band was ready to rock!

World's Greatest Band played their first gig at Ranxerox in Toronto in early 1997. What a wild night! After the show and a little smoke, Jeff and Darren almost came to blows over the money split. Shortly after Darren sold his drums and Dan posted notices for replacements.
The replacements panned and Dan and Jeff (Kevin only played bass for that first show) set up a web site and did some promotion at an Indie Band Convention in early summer of '97. Dan entered some song contests (Q107, Billboard, John Lennon) and when Jeff decided to leave he posted 'WANTED' notices and wrote riff songs.

After the release of World's Greatest Band's first CD (Tears Of Blood ©1998) there followed a period of a couple of years during which Dan engaged in another music project with a talented artist named Barbara.
Suede (her stage name) sang on 2 CDs which Dan wrote and produced in 1999 - Tri-lite and In The Buff. Both CDs were much more mellow and spiritual in nature and Suede's warm vocals were well received by the public.

The following lyrics are from 'Circle':
'It's like a circle going 'round and 'round
Life is forever when you know you're found
And like a baby taken by surprise
Life is a wonder in a newborn's eyes'

and from 'Spread Your Wings':
'Spread your wings - do you want to fly my friend?
You know you can if you let your spirit soar
Just believe 'cause you know it will never end
When you give yourself to God life starts to flow
When you give yourself to God life starts to flow'

Needless to say Dan also continued writing songs for his own prophetic ministry which were harsher and more metal-edge.

The Dark Ages CD (©2000) contains some of the deeper of Dan's revelations.
From the hauntingly revelatory 'Your Confession' to the exultant 'Spiritual Warrior' these power-riff metal-edge songs speak of man's fight to realize personal destiny in this corrupt society. They expose the dark forces and their delusions foisted on the masses.

Prophetically speaking, the Dark Ages CD outlines the importance of maintaining (with God's help!) one's vision and purpose for being.

From 'Dark Ages':
'The dark ages have begun
Everybody's mind is blasted
We wander looking for a hidden sun
While thunderclouds roll over the downcasted'
and from 'Your Confession':
'And now we view the silver screen
Where idols romp and human kind
Aspires to become like them
While children die and lovers lie'

Dan continued to labour strenuously through Y2K receiving revelation and insight into the coming millenial conflicts. No person seriously dared join World's Greatest Band on account of the fierce battles against the dark forces.
However essays, lyrics and music struggled their way out of him and into the world.

World's Greatest Band's 3rd CD Holy War (©2001) is a collection of instrumentals outlining the battle between light and dark. The evil forces use many devices to enslave their victims and, just like in The Matrix, the delusion of darkness and lies can only be overcome by progressive revelation of light and truth.

Even music without words can enlighten and energize people who love the truth as songs such as 'Modern Times' and 'Conflict' attest to.
The American Dreamland CD(©2002) continued to illuminate the bizarre situations affecting our world. Its strange gothic melodies, voices and excellent song crafting feed the soul hungering for truth. Songs such as 'Remember Columbine' and 'Hollyworld' expose the corrupting influences pervading society.

From 'Remember Columbine':
'I knew their hatred, I felt the lie
I dug their graves for them, I made them die
All my indifference to all their pain
Goodbye Rachel Scott, remember Columbine!'
and from 'Hollyworld':
'Hollyworld's corrupted a thousand million minds
Makes their dreams seem trivial compared to stardom's find
Over in the background the aliens are glad
They're making lots of money watching humankind go mad'

In 2003 Dan produced his 5th CD called Eh?(©2003) - a more personal and accomplished selection of songs. The 9/11 tragedy certainly changed the world mindset and some songs on Eh? reflect the direction the world is going in. This CD exposes more of Dan's personal philosophy towards both life and living.
From 'Mega Man':
'Take the straight and narrow
Aim your life - a well placed arrow
Suck it dry - even the marrow
You'll do fine!'

and from 'Outward Reality':
'When you finally realize what this world is all about
You're hooked just like an addict - you find you can't get out
Your credit cards are maxed and the TV's made you blind
Dreams are long forgotten while you're waiting out the time'
Also on this CD are some interesting prophetic lyrics concerning the fall of the corporations ('Open Your Eyes'), the increase of surveillance ('Free') and a clue to where ' the bomb ' is hidden ('You Just Ain't Livin'').

In early 2004 World's Greatest Band published music on the internet from their 6th CD called Balls Of Fire(©2004). These songs describe the confusing and tempting times that World's Greatest Band has been going through.
Each song is an explosion of energy and originality designed to dissipate any negative energy in the room. Certainly they are a precursor to the physical move that the Band (and of course Dan) recently made to a new (and yet old) location.

Some lyrics from 'Go Around':
'The life you live is just inside your head
You're doing good or else you're dead
It's better love than hate you know
But in the end you'll let it go'
Once Again(©2005) is World's Greatest Band's 7th CD. This collection of original metal-edge songs encourages evaluating one's path in life. The music is focused and energizing. Some lyrics from 'Your Life':
'Your life is not the things you got
The things you got will only rot
Your life is not the things you got
The things you got will only rot'

and from 'Signs':
'Trust your instinct - trust your peace
Keep it real because the beast
Grows in power by his lies
If they can force a compromise'
In the fall of 2005 Dan moved out to the country near the bay. He had had enough of the harassing demonic influences that city life contained and he hoped - with the help of his long time friend Barbara - that a smaller community life would give him some space to breathe.

Forward Ho(©2006) and More Suede(©2006) proved to be more mellow CD's and brought him to a greater place of freedom than he had previously known. The long trail bike rides and beautiful countryside provided a more detached view of world situations.
2008 found Dan getting back into the raw alternative music that he really enjoyed. Far Out (2008) is a compilation of older instrumentals that had been saved along the way. These provided a bridge to Dan's future work which is presently in progress.

Halfway through the year the world stock markets fell apart bringing about great fear and uncertainty about the future of the global community. Needless to say these turbulent times inspired more music and prophecy.
The collection of songs from Alter Ego (2009) are both new and previously written material encompassing both romantic and alternate rock forms of music. Life in the country also was becoming less enthralling due to the long winters and the lack of a like-minded social network. Potential change was in the air as the spring of '09 arrived.
