On God's Enemy
1. Who God's enemy is .. " I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven " 2. What is Satan's method of operation .. " Being forty days tempted of the devil " " .. when the devil had ended all temptation he departed from him for a season " 3. How sin and sickness are interrelated .. (Ex.) And behold they brought to him a man sick of the palsy lying on a bed and Jesus seeing their faith said to the sick of the palsy ' Son be of good cheer - your sins be forgiven you ' And behold certain of the scribes said within themselves ' This man blasphemes ' And Jesus knowing their thoughts said ' Why think you evil in your hearts? For which is easier to say ' You sins be forgiven you ' or to say ' Arise and walk? ' - but that you may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins (then said he to the sick of the palsy) arise take up your bed and go into your house ' And he arose and departed to his house 4. The unpardonable sin .. " .. I say to you all manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men but the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven unto men - and whosoever speaks a word against the Son of man it shall be forgiven him - but whosoever speaks against the Holy Spirit it shall not be forgiven him - neither in this world - neither in the world to come " (Ex.) Then was brought to him one possessed with a devil - blind and dumb - and he healed him insomuch that the blind and dumb both spoke and saw - and all the people were amazed and said ' Is not this the son of David? ' But when the Pharisees heard of it they said ' This fellow does not cast out devils but by Beelzebub (Satan) the prince of the devils (ie they called the work of the Holy Spirit the work of the devil) 5. How to resist the temptations of Satan .. " Watch and pray always that you enter not into temptation - the spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak " (Ex.) Then was Jesus led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil - and when he had fasted forty days and forty nights he was afterward ahungered And when the tempter came to him he said ' If you are the Son of God command that these stones be made bread ' But he answered and said ' It is written - man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God ' Then the devil took him up into the holy city and set him on a pinnacle of the temple and said to him ' If you are the Son of God cast yourself down for it is written - He shall give His angels charge concerning you and in their hands they shall bear you up lest at any time you dash your foot against a stone - Jesus said to him ' It is written again - you shall not tempt the Lord your God ' Again the devil took him up into an exceedingly high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them and said to him ' All these things will I give you if you will fall down and worship me ' Then said Jesus to him ' Go away Satan for it is written - you shall worship the Lord your God and Him only shall you serve ' Then the devil left him and behold angels came and ministered to him (Ex.) From that time forth Jesus began to show to his disciples how he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes and be killed and be raised again the third day - then Peter took him and began to rebuke him saying ' Be it far from you Lord - this shall not happen to you ' But he turned and said to Peter ' Get behind me Satan - you are an offense to me for you savour not the things that be of God but those that be of men ' 6. How Christ's sacrifice affected Satan .. " Now is the judgment of this world - now shall the prince of this world be cast out " 7. What Satan's end is .. " Then shall he say also to them on the left hand ' Depart from me you cursed into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels " 8. How to recognize God's enemy in man .. " That which comes out of the man - that defiles the man - for from within out of the heart of men proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness - all these evil things come from within and defile the man " " A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil - for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks " " Beware of false prophets which come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly they are ravening wolves - you shall know them by their fruits - do men gather grapes of thorns or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit - a good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit - wherefore by their fruits you shall know them? " " He that is not with me is against me and he that gathers not with me scatters abroad "

" A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil - for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks "
