On God's Will
1. What God's will is ..

" .. repent and believe the gospel "

" Come after me and I will make you to become fishers of men "

2. What to work for ..

" Labour not for the meat which perishes but for that meat which endures to everlasting life which the Son of man shall give to you - for him has God the Father sealed "

" This is the work of God that you believe on him who he has sent "

" No man can serve two masters for either he will hate the one and love the other or else he will hold to the one and despise the other - you cannot serve God and mammon "

" Therefore I say to you - take no thought for your life what you shall eat or what you shall drink nor yet for your body what you shall put on - is not the life more than meat and the body than raiment? -but seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added to you for your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things "

" Take therefore no thought for the morrow for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself - sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof "

3. God's will for social behaviour ..

a) " .. whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgement - and whosoever shall say to his brother ' Vain fellow ' shall be in danger of the council - but whosoever shall say ' You fool ' shall be in danger of hellfire "

b) " If you bring your gift to the altar and there remember that your brother has anything against you leave there your gift before the altar and go your way - first be reconciled to your brother and then come and offer your gift "

c) " Agree with your adversary quickly while you are in the way with him lest at any time the adversary deliver you to the judge and the judge deliver you to the officer and you be cast into prison "

d) " .. whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart "

e) " .. whosoever shall put away his wife - saving for the cause of fornication - causes her to commit adultery and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced commits adultery "

f) " .. swear not at all - neither by heaven for it is God's throne nor by the earth for it is His footstool - neither by Jerusalem for it is the city of the great King - neither shall you swear by your head because you cannot make one hair white or black but let your communication be either yes or no for whatsoever is more than these comes of evil "

g) " .. resist not evil but whosoever shall smite you on your right cheek turn to him the other also - and if any man will sue you at the law and take away your coat let him have your cloak also - and whosoever shall compel you to go a mile go with him two "

h) " Give to him that asks you and from him that would borrow from you turn not away "

i) " .. Love your enemies - bless them that curse you - do good to them that hate you and pray for them that despitefully use you and persecute you - for if you love them that love you what thank have you for sinners also love those that love them? - and if you do good to them that do good to you what thank have you for sinners also do even the same? - and if you lend only to them of whom you hope to receive what thank have you for sinners also lend to sinners to receive as much again? - but love your enemies and go good and lend hoping for nothing again and your reward shall be great and you shall be the children of the Highest for He is kind to the unthankful and to the evil "

j) " Be merciful as your Father also is merciful - for if you forgive men their trespasses your heavenly Father will also forgive you but if you forgive not men their trespasses neither will your Father forgive your trespasses "

k) " Judge not that you be not judged - for with what judgment you judge you shall be judged and with what measure you mete it shall be measured to you again "

l) " And why do you behold the mote that is in your brother's eye but consider not the beam that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother ' Let me pull out the mote out of your eye when behold a beam is in your own eye? You hypocrite - first cast out the beam out of your own eye and then shall you see clearly to cast out the mote out of your brother's eye "

m) " Therefore all things whatsoever you would that men should do to you do you even so to them "

n) " Take heed that you do not your alms before men to be seen of them; otherwise you have no reward of your Father which is in heaven - but when you do alms let not your left hand know what your right hand does that your alms may be in secret - and your Father that sees in secret Himself shall reward you openly "

o) " When you make a dinner or a supper call not your friends nor your brethren - neither your kinsmen nor your rich neighbours lest they also bid you again and a recompense be made - but when you make a feast call the poor the maimed the lame the blind and you shall be blessed for they cannot recompense you - for you shall be recompensed at the resurrection of the just "

p) " And when you pray you shall not be as the hypocrites are for they love to pray openly that they may be seen of men - verily I say to you they have their reward - but you when you pray enter into your closet and when you have shut your door pray to your Father that is in secret and your Father that sees in secret shall reward you openly "

q) " Moreover when you fast be not as the hypocrites of a sad countenance for they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to fast - verily I say to you they have their reward - but you when you fast anoint your head and wash your face that you appear not to men to fast but to your Father that is in secret and your Father that sees in secret shall reward you openly "

r) " Give not that which is holy to the dogs - neither cast your pearls before swine lest they trample them under their feet and turn again and rend you "

s) " Ask and it shall be given you - seek and you shall find - knock and it shall be opened to you for every one that asks receives and he that seeks finds and to him that knocks it shall be opened "

t) " But when you pray use not vain repetitions as the heathen do for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking - be not therefore like them for your Father knows what things you have need of before you ask Him "

u) " After this manner therefore pray ' Our Father which art in heaven - hallowed be Your name - Your kingdom come - Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven - Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us - And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil - For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever - Amen "

v) " And when you stand praying forgive if you have anything against any that your Father also that is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses - but if you do not forgive neither will your Father that is in heaven forgive your trespasses "

w) " Take heed and beware of covetousness for a man's life consists not in the abundance of the things which he possesses "

x) " Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth where moth and rust does corrupt and where thieves break through and steal - but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust does corrupt and where thieves do not break through nor steal - for where your treasure is there will your heart be also "

4. How to perform the will of God ..

" If you love me keep my commandments "

" Abide in me and I in you - as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself except it abide in the vine no more can you except you abide in me "

" Go you therefore and teach all nations - baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit - whosesoever sins you remit they are remitted unto them and whosesoever sins you retain they are retained - teach them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you and lo I am with you always even to the end of the world "

5. What benefits will be gained ..

" If you continue in my word then are you my disciples indeed and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free "

" Verily verily I say to you if a man keep my saying he shall never see death "

6. How to remain in God's will ..

" If you keep my commandments you shall abide in my love even as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in His love "
